Hawaiian-Style Loco Moco
Loco Moco is a traditional meal found in many fast food restaurants in Hawai’i, especially local places such as Zippy’s and L&L Hawaiian BBQ. This recipe is really pretty simple, consisting of only 4 essential items: rice, a hamburger patty, an egg, and brown gravy. I was stationed in Hawai’i for 4 years during my time in the Navy, and I had more than my share of Loco Moco. This is definitely my favorite Hawaiian plate lunch. Although it’s much better to get this to go and enjoy it on a beautiful Hawaiian beach, it’s nice to have a little bit of Hawaiiana here in Ohio.

Sounds delicious. I love Loco Moco. Does your gravy taste like L and L’s? It’s my favorite. Thank you for the recipe.
Loco Moco is one of my favorite meals. I think this recipe is a little different, but the gravy is closer to L&L’s than some of the others I’ve tried. You’ll have to let me know what you think if you try it.
