Aloha and e komo mai (welcome, come in)! I’m a big believer that life is what you make of it, to include living aloha wherever you may be. That’s what I’m trying to do by sharing our most useful stuff with you. You only get one life here, let’s make it the best we can!
“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And you are the one who’ll decide where to go.”Dr. Seuss, Oh, The Places You’ll Go!
What You’ll Find at Aloha Geoffrey
The majority of content is going to be fitness, Hawai’i-related,
- Hawai’i. I’m very passionate about Hawai’i and will be sharing a quite a bit about this amazing place. My grandparents took me here on their 50th wedding anniversary and I was hooked. Lucky for me, I was stationed on O’ahu for four years with the Navy.
- Recipes. I used my old site as a handy way for us to keep track of some of our favorite recipes. This is going to become even more useful because we’ve started having the kids be the “head chef.” During our meal planning for the week, each one pick’s a meal and will guide the rest of us if they need help during the preparation.
- Life in General. This will be a broad category of anything and everything else.
- Health and Fitness. The ultimate goal is to be a parent that can keep up with my kids and teach them healthy habits at a young age. I love running and have committed to MapMyRun’s You VS the Year 2018 Challenge to run 1018KM in 2018. We also have a physical readiness test in the Navy Reserve twice a year. My goal is to continually improve my score until I’m at the maximum amount for my age group.
Update: I’ve started P90X3 on July 24.
My name is Geoffrey and this is my personal site for everything that’s not code-related. Besides being a husband and father (and big kid), I’m also a volunteer firefighter, an Electronics Technician in the United States Navy Reserve – and our unit’s Leading Petty Officer (LPO), a hobbyist code developer, runner, and have a day job working in IT. There is never enough time in the day.
I became fascinated with Hawai’i when I was 13 years old and my grandparents took our family with them for their 50th wedding anniversary. We visited the Big Island, O’ahu, and Maui. To me, the Big Island no ka ‘oi, meaning the Big Island is the best! My wife and I have actively talked about moving there someday. The first coffee I ever had was Kona coffee and that’s been my go-to drink ever since.
